Move the tires so they wear evenly. Pattern depends on drive type and whether the tires are directional.

  1. 01

Park on level ground. Set the parking brake. Chock a wheel that will stay on the ground until the first pair is in the air.

  2. 02

Confirm the rotation pattern for this vehicle — AWD/4WD, FWD, RWD, and directional tread are not the same job.

  3. 03

Loosen the lug nuts on the ground, then lift at the published points and set the vehicle on stands.

  4. 04

Move each wheel to its next position. Do not mix directional tires left-to-right.

  5. 05

Start lug nuts by hand. Lower the vehicle. Torque in a star pattern to the published spec. Recheck after 50–100 miles.
